Griffins Major Signing Falls Through

By Nigel Mifsud | 28 January 2018

After months of negotiations between star recruit Karmichael Hunt and Griffins management, a deal had been signed by both parties which would have seen Hunt take the field for the Griffins in 2018.

The details of the deal remain undisclosed by both parties although an inside source has told “The Griffins Gazette” the deal was definitely in double figures.
With breaking news all over the media on Sunday 28/1/18 that Hunt has been alleged to be dealing cocaine to party goers in Brisbane night clubs, the Griffins seem to be left high and dry. Griffins president Todd Trench said this morning “...yeah we’ve tried several times today to contact Hunt and his manager to confirm the news and Hunt’s breaking of the contract. (We) can’t get hold of him”.

Hunt also didn't take fondly to the nickname "DHK" being branded upon him instantly by players.

When asked about other prospective players The Griffins could potentially replace Hunt with for the 2018 season, Todd Trench said “Andrew Bogut is off contract at the NBA. I called him and he was excited about our offer but declined because he doesn’t know how to play rugby”.

The Griffins 2018 season looks very positive with Dubbo Sevens competition commencing in March, trial matches in March and lots of new faces around the club bringing great energy and enthusiasm.
